Sunday Devotional: Proverbs 31:25-31

Sunday, August 21, 2016

Hi everyone! I want to share with you some beautiful verses. Verses that describes a beautiful Christian mother. I know some of you may not be mothers (neither am I), but these are qualities that every woman can have. Because we ALL make am impact on others.

Proverbs 31:25-31

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future.
26 When she speaks, her words are wise,
and she gives instructions with kindness.
27 She carefully watches everything in her household
    and suffers nothing from laziness.
28 Her children stand and bless her.
    Her husband praises her:
29 “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
    but you surpass them all!”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
but a woman who fears the Lordwill be greatly praised.
31 Reward her for all she has done.
Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.

Believe me- the fancy, colorful, classy, elegant, and fun clothing we wear does not mean we are clothed in strength or dignity. No matter how pretty you make yourself it doesn't make you courageous. The clothes you put on doesn't make your friends, your boyfriend, your husband, your parents, or strangers say that you surpass every other woman in the world. The makeup, the frilly dresses, the heeled shoes, or the name brands DON'T MEAN ANYTHING! The only thing they do is cover your skin.

Like verse 30 days- beauty does NOT last. It's our hearts, thoughts, actions, and words that do. Don't get me wrong. I love to dress up and such, but I always have to remember that when it comes down to it it doesn't matter how pretty I make myself look. I need to always strive and work as hard and even harder to make my heart, actions, thoughts, and words even prettier.

Each and everyone of us has an influence over people whether you're a mother, an aunt, a grandma, a friend, a teacher, ect!! We are meant to be strong and have dignity! When we speak we need to think!!!! Don't let words just fly out of your mouth. Think before you speak. Be wise with your words... It can be difficult sometimes to teach people because of course we already know how to do it and we can become impatient. God tells us to be kind with out instructions though.

God also tells us to watch over our household. I see that as anything we own though. Our lives God has given us is not a right- it's a privilege. We are meant to take care of what God has blessed us with. He tells us not be lazy. Take care of what we are given. Don't let things slip by. I know how easy it can be to watch another movie on the hallmark channel and let the dishes pile up. It can feel like it's going so slow and feel so tiring at points but it will all be worth it. Whether it's your children, a husband, a nephew, a niece, a boyfriend, or whoever it may be God has blessed you with they will recognize what you have done for them and be thankful for how you've taken care of them in whatever way it may be.

The countless hours we spend on ourselves to make us "beautiful" will not show for anything in the end, it's the life we have lived for Christ. And he will reward you. Again, it's not bad to put makeup on or dress up. I do it all the time! But don't put so much makeup on that you look like a different person, don't spend two hours doing it every day, and don't do it for others. We only have a little bit of time on this earth that we can do what we've been called to do. Don't let it slip by. Live for God! Do what He wants you to do...

Dear God,

I pray that you would be with each and everyone of us. I pray that you would put it on our hearts, give us the strength, the love and courage to do what you have called us to do and clothe ourselves with strength and dignity. I pray that when we open our mouths it isn't our words people hear but your words. I pray we would show kindness and love to those around us. And I pray we would praise you by doing what you ask of us. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen!
