Sunday Devotional: Psalm 23: 4

Psalm 23:4
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,  I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Sometimes the times we abandon God is when we need Him most. In those times of loss, pain, suffering, ect.  We say, "WHO would want me?...  WHY would God do this?... WHAT can I do?..."  Sometimes the thing we need to remember is that God wants us, sin is in this world, but God is our armor and He will fight it with us, and we need to hand our troubles over to God, because we can't do anything.  Only God can do the imaginable.   Our God is so big, but we don't have the faith sometimes to believe that He is ALL we need.  This past week I was performing a slam poem about Christianity and our need for God in my English class.  I was beyond nervous.  As I was walking up the stairs to my class I felt so sick I could have thrown up.  IMMEDIATELY I knew it was Satan saying, "YOU CAN'T DO IT... YOU WILL BE JUDGED..."... I heard those words and started to repeat this verse in my head:
Psalm 56: 3-4

3. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
4. In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.

What can mere mortals do to me?

My nervousness and fear left me.  When I got to my class I was more than ready to share what God had put on my heart.  I encourage all of you to turn to Him when you need Him most, because that is our period of growth with the Lord.

Dear God,
I pray that you will be on our hearts constantly, that we will always be hearing your voice, and that our actions speak your words.  I ask that we will always turn to you in all areas of our lives, especially in the darkest times.  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen!
