1 Peter 3: 3-4
3. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

It's not bad for us girls to curl or straighten our hair everyday, to get our nails done, wear pretty clothes, or wear an expensive piece of jewelry, however these verses have to be something you remember... We don't need to look extravagant or wear fancy things to have worth or to be beautiful... In fact, those things play no part in our beauty.  I think we have all come across someone that has appeared to be absolutely beautiful, and then within a few seconds of conversation you can already tell that their beauty is only on the outside. Now ask yourself a question... Is that you?... These verses are SO important!  The media is constantly telling women of all ages to wear their products to look the best, to use their weight loss programs to be the skinniest, to carry their purses because they are real leather, and so on and so on.  It is never ending!  We will always have that influence hanging over our shoulders and so a step to blocking those voices out your head is remembering these verses.
My favorite part is in verse four, "the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit," because of it's truth.  You see, we will age every day, one day we will have wrinkles, and will be taking trips to dye our hair because the media says not to show a gray hair.  This verse expresses that our inner beauty is UNFADING though!  No matter the age, no matter the clothing brand, no matter the weight, and no matter the hair color our beauty is unfading.  Does that not give you chills!? I want to challenge you to start focusing more on your inner beauty, and no, that does not mean you can't doll yourself up everyday.  I want you to start focusing more on your relationship with Jesus, because He is the One that changes.  He will make your innerself beautiful, and then through Him you can start letting your inner beauty outshine your outward beauty.
Dear God,
I pray that each of us will chase after you with more intent for a relationship.  I ask that through that you will be the inner beauty of us that shine to others.  Help us block out the worldly voices that contradict what you ask of us. It is in Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
